I am with Mami and Papi this evening, just the three of us in the company of the beloved family dog, the only audible sound the hiss of their old school fan on this breezy Long Island night. As they sleep well before the traditional bedtime hour, it dawns on me that this is how it must have been in the beginning when I, their first born, was a baby in the first home they owned in Brooklyn. Back then, though, it was them who tended to me and I who slept. We will talk and laugh some tomorrow. .
